Habitual ways of seeing get thrown away as I paint. My whole body applies the oil paint from my core strength. There is a lot of carving away of paint and repainting over the scraped parts that is completely physical. The painting comes from outside of anything I have ever known before. My mind is in a meditative state, as though watching me move from outside of myself, a giving over to process rather than trying to control. Landscape inspires me and is at the center of my inspiration, (in this case, the mid summer colors, birdsongs, heat), and faith that I can pull it all together just by being present in the moment of search).
