Here is mud season, the earth a solid frozen surface, but green shoots breaking through it just a little more each day. I pay attention to the changes, aware of a larger force outside of me that guides me to paint them. I have an emotional reaction to color relationships just as I do to musical chords the very same way. I want the viewer to smell the earth through the colors. The whites are remaining pieces of snow reflecting the blue sky.
